The Original Cell Phone Technology

Posted on May 2, 2008

Analog is the original cell phone technology and is largely considered as obsolete today. After serving its purpose, it met its natural demise due to the many disadvantages associated with it as compared to newer technology. For one, the battery life is only about a fourth of that of a digital phone. They are also more susceptible to noise, disturbance and dropped calls, not to mention the poor voice quality.

Many new features such as date, time, text messaging, web access, among others, are not available on analog cell phones. They also need much more power which has more potential of disturbing other electronic equipments such as pacemakers. Nonetheless, all good things have their beginnings which pave the way for better versions and models.
